IPL Laser Hair Reduction

At Naomi Waite Aesthetics, we offer IPL SHR laser hair reduction as one of our premier services for clients who desire long-term hair removal solutions without the hassle of frequent shaving, waxing, or plucking.

IPL Laser Hair Reduction

IPL SHR laser hair reduction is a cutting-edge technology that uses the power of advanced light therapy to destroy hair follicles at the root, preventing regrowth of hair in the future. This treatment is safe, effective, and painless, making it an excellent choice for clients who want to get rid of unwanted hair on various parts of the body, including the legs, bikini area, arms, chest, back, and face.

The IPL SHR technology is different from traditional laser hair removal as it uses selective photothermolysis to target the hair follicles at a deeper level than regular laser hair removal, leading to better results. The SHR technology also uses a continuous sweeping motion that allows for quicker treatment times, making it a perfect solution for those with a busy schedule.

The IPL SHR laser hair reduction treatment can be customised to fit the unique needs and preferences of each client, providing a tailored solution that suits their specific skin type, hair color, and thickness. Before the treatment, a thorough consultation is conducted with a qualified technician to assess the client’s needs and recommend the best plan of action.

At Naomi Waite Aesthetics, our technicians are highly trained and certified to deliver the IPL SHR laser hair reduction treatment with precision and care. We use only the latest technology and tools to ensure optimal results while minimizing discomfort or side effects.

IPL SHR laser hair reduction is an excellent choice for clients, both men and women, seeking a long-term hair removal solution that is safe, painless, and effective. Contact us today to learn more about how we can help you achieve your desired results!

Frequently Asked Questions

IPL SHR Laser Hair Reduction is an innovative hair removal treatment that uses intense pulses of light (IPL) to target hair follicles beneath the skin’s surface. The laser energy is absorbed by the melanin in the hair follicle, which damages the follicle, preventing it from producing more hair. This treatment is suitable for all skin types, even those with darker skin tones.

This treatment is generally considered pain-free and comfortable. Some clients report a slight warming sensation during treatment, but it is not painful.

The number of sessions required varies from person to person, but most clients require six to eight sessions to achieve the best results. This is because hair grows in cycles, and IPL SHR Laser Hair Reduction can only effectively target hair in the anagen (active growth) phase. Multiple sessions ensure that all hair follicles are treated in their anagen phase.

IPL SHR Laser Hair Reduction provides long-lasting results, but it is not considered a permanent hair removal solution. After completing the initial treatment course, clients will likely require maintenance sessions every six to twelve months to maintain hair reduction results.

IPL SHR Laser Hair Reduction is a safe treatment with minimal side effects. Some clients may experience slight redness or swelling in the treated area after the treatment, but this generally subsides within a few hours.

The cost of IPL SHR Laser Hair Reduction varies depending on the area being treated and the number of sessions required. As it is considered a cosmetic treatment, it is not covered by insurance. Still, our clinic offers competitive and transparent pricing, with no hidden costs.

Before your treatment, you should avoid sun exposure, tanning beds and self-tanners for at least two weeks. You should shave the treatment area before the appointment, and avoid waxing or plucking for six weeks before the session.

After your treatment, you should avoid sun exposure, tanning beds and self-tanners for at least one week. You should also avoid hot baths, saunas, and exercise for 24 hours after your treatment, as these activities may cause excessive sweating and irritation of the treated area.

  • Skin redness, tenderness or swelling 48 hours to a week post-treatment
  • Blisters and burns
  • Scabbing (this is typical of brown spots, which rise to the surface of your skin, crust over and gradually flake off)
  • Hyperpigmentation / Hypopigmentation
  • Infection

While burns are rare when you undergo an IPL Skin Rejuvenation treatment, they may still happen, and you should remain wary of this. In any case, if you do receive a burn from an IPL Skin Rejuvenation, don’t fret, it will generally go away over time and you should not expect any lasting effects.

However, you should still speak to your provider if you do notice any burn. This can be extremely helpful, especially if you still have more sessions in your treatment plan. Once your skin therapist is aware of the burn, they will give you the best tips on how to manage it, while also ensuring that the settings on the device are more suitable for your skin during the next session.

Treatment Care

  • Avoid UV exposure 7 days prior to your treatment.
  • Clients who are sunburned or tanned must wait 2 weeks before being treated to avoid additional skin damage.
  • Avoid sunless tanning products 7 days prior to your treatment. It is recommended that you exfoliate the area to remove any residual colour.
  • Clients should come to appointments with clean skin in the area to be treated. All clients who are treating any part of their face or neck will be required to cleanse their entire face in the clinic.
  • Avoid chemical peels and other laser procedures in the area to be treated for 2 weeks prior and two weeks after your laser treatment.
  • Avoid all alpha hydroxy and beta hydroxyl products (AHA/BHA), hydroquinone, retinols/retinoid for 7 days before treatment.
  • Clients with any abnormal lesions, moles or spots on the area to be treated must be cleared by a medical practitioner prior to treatment.
  • If you are prone to cold sores, it is highly recommended to take an anti-viral medication prior to your treatment. Clients with active cold sores will not be treated.
  • Clients who have used Accutane or similar products within the last 6 months CANNOT have laser hair removal treatments.
  • Client should not perform any physical activity that increases body temperature or blood pressure within 2 hours before and after treatments.
  • If you have Anti wrinkle treatments or dermal fillers in the area to be treated, wait 14 days both before and after injection to receive treatments.
  • Antibiotics may increase photosensitivity. We recommend that you check with your doctor prior to receiving laser treatments if you are taking a long-term antibiotic. If you become ill and begin taking an antibiotic, you will need to be off the medication for 7 days before laser treatment.
  • Boots may not be worn immediately after leg treatments.

At Naomi Waite Aesthetics, we want to ensure the best possible outcome for your IPL Laser Hair Removal treatment. Following proper after care instructions will help you achieve optimal results. Here are some important guidelines to follow:

  • Avoid direct exposure to sunlight: After IPL Laser Hair Removal, it is advisable to avoid direct exposure to sunlight for at least 7-10 days as the skin is more susceptible to sun damage during this time. Therefore, it is recommended to wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher while going outdoors.
  • Avoid hot showers and baths: To prevent skin irritation and discomfort, it is recommended to avoid hot showers and baths for at least 24-48 hours post-treatment. Instead, it is suggested to take lukewarm or cool showers.
  • Moisturize your skin: After IPL Laser Hair Removal, the skin may feel dry and flaky; therefore, it is essential to keep the skin moisturized. You can use gentle, fragrance-free moisturizers with nourishing ingredients such as ceramides, hyaluronic acid, and glycerin to soothe and hydrate the skin.
  • Avoid makeup: It is recommended to avoid makeup for at least 24 hours post-treatment to prevent clogging of the pores and skin irritation.
  • Avoid harsh skincare products: For the first few days following IPL Laser Hair Removal, it is recommended to avoid using any harsh skincare products such as exfoliants, retinoids, and acne treatments. These products may cause skin irritation and may reduce the effectiveness of the treatment.
  • Be gentle with your skin: For the first few days post-treatment, it is recommended to be gentle with your skin. Avoid rubbing, picking, or scratching the treated area, as this may cause skin irritation, redness, and inflammation.
  • Stay hydrated: Drinking plenty of water after IPL Laser Hair Removal helps to keep the skin hydrated, flushes out toxins and enhances the overall healing process.

Following these after care tips will help enhance the effectiveness of IPL Laser Hair Removal and prevent any skin irritation or discomfort. It is also recommended to schedule a follow-up appointment with your aesthetician to monitor the progress of the treatment.

Potential Risks

While IPL Skin Rejuvenation is generally safe and well-tolerated, it may cause some risks and side effects, such as:

  • Redness, swelling, and tenderness: These are common and usually resolve within a few hours to a few days after treatment.
  • Hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation: IPL Laser Hair Removal may cause changes in skin color, either darker or lighter than your natural skin tone. This is more common in people with darker skin tones.
  • Burns or blisters: IPL Laser Hair Removal may cause burns or blisters if the skin is over-treated or the energy level is too high. This is rare but can be prevented by choosing a qualified and experienced aesthetician.
  • Infection: IPL Skin Rejuvenation may cause infection if the skin is not properly cleaned and disinfected before and after treatment. This is rare but can be prevented by following proper hygiene and aftercare instructions.

Here are some after care advice for clients having IPL Skin Rejuvenation at Naomi Waite Aesthetics:

  • Crusting
  • Crusting can occur after the treatment, especially if there was some blistering or scabbing.
  • Do not pick at the crusts, as this can lead to scarring.
  • Apply a soothing cream or ointment, such as aloe vera or calendula, to the affected area.
  • Avoid exposing the area to direct sunlight, as this can exacerbate the crusting.
  • Blisters
  • Blisters can occur as a result of the heat generated by the IPL / laser.
  • Do not pop the blisters, as this can increase the risk of infection.
  • Apply a cool compress, such as a damp cloth, to the area to reduce inflammation.
  • If the blisters are large or painful, contact Naomi Waite Aesthetics for further advice.
  • Scabbing
  • Scabbing can occur after the treatment, especially if the skin was irritated or damaged.
  • Do not pick at the scabs, as this can lead to scarring.
  • Apply a moisturizing cream or ointment, such as petroleum jelly, to the area to keep it hydrated.
  • Avoid exposing the area to direct sunlight, as this can slow down the healing process.
  • Scarring
  • Scarring is a rare complication of IPL Laser Hair Removal, but it can occur in some cases.
  • If you notice any signs of scarring, such as redness, swelling, or raised bumps, contact Naomi Waite Aesthetics immediately.
  • Avoid exposing the area to direct sunlight, as this can make the scarring worse.
  • Apply a scar-reducing cream or ointment, such as silicone gel, to the area to help minimize the appearance of the scar.
  • Hyper / Hypopigmentation
  • Hyper / hypopigmentation is a common side effect of IPL Skin Rejuvenation, especially in people with darker skin tones.
  • Avoid exposing the area to direct sunlight, as this can worsen the hyperpigmentation.
  • Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher to protect the treated area from UV rays.
  • Consider using a skin-lightening cream or serum to help fade the hyperpigmentation.
