CryoPen in Lancaster
CryoPen is one of two blemish-removal options at the clinic. This page explains how it works, when it may be chosen and why advanced electrolysis is usually considered first.
Quick answer
CryoPen is a precision cryotherapy device that applies controlled freezing to selected superficial skin lesions. At Naomi Waite Aesthetics in Lancaster it is offered as another option for suitable benign blemishes, such as some skin tags and warts, alongside advanced electrolysis, which is generally the first choice. Every lesion is assessed before treatment.
What is CryoPen?
CryoPen is a precision cryotherapy device. It treats selected superficial skin lesions by freezing them in a controlled way.
At Naomi Waite Aesthetics, CryoPen is an alternative blemish-removal option for suitable benign lesions. Advanced electrolysis is generally presented first for suitable blemishes, and your practitioner will explain which route fits yours.
How CryoPen works
The device applies controlled freezing to the lesion being treated. The treated area then goes through a healing process, which your practitioner will explain before you start.
Freezing is only suitable for selected lesions. It is never a substitute for having a suspicious or undiagnosed mark checked by a doctor.
What CryoPen can help with
Once assessed as benign and suitable, CryoPen may be considered for:
- Skin tags
- Warts and verrucae
- Seborrhoeic keratoses
- Cherry angiomas
- Age spots
Is CryoPen right for me?
CryoPen may be an option if you have a benign superficial lesion and your practitioner feels freezing is a good fit for it. Not every lesion can or should be treated this way, and advanced electrolysis may be recommended instead.
Moles and any mark that is new, changing or unusual must be checked by a doctor first. The clinic will ask for a doctor's note before treating a mole or an unusual lesion.
What happens during treatment
Your first step is a consultation, where your practitioner examines the lesion, asks about its history and your medical background, and confirms whether CryoPen or advanced electrolysis is the better route.
On the day, the CryoPen is applied briefly to the lesion. Your practitioner will explain what you may feel and how the area may look afterwards, and a follow-up check may be arranged so the treated area can be reviewed.
Downtime and aftercare
After CryoPen, the treated area may look red, feel itchy or sting, and a blister can form. How long it takes to heal depends on the lesion and the area, so we do not quote a fixed downtime.
Your aftercare will be based on these principles:
- Do not pick the treated area or pop any blister
- Keep the area clean and dry
- Cover a blister with a clean dressing if advised
- Protect the area from the sun
- Contact the clinic if you have any concerns about healing
CryoPen compared with advanced electrolysis
Both treatments are used for selected benign blemishes, but they work differently. Advanced electrolysis is generally the first choice at the clinic for suitable blemishes, and CryoPen is also offered. Which one suits you depends on the lesion and your assessment.
Results
How a lesion responds depends on its type, size and depth, and some lesions need more than one treatment. We do not promise that a lesion will never return, and changes in skin colour in the treated area are a possible risk that your practitioner will discuss with you.

At Naomi Waite Aesthetics in Lancaster it is offered as another option for suitable benign blemishes, alongside advanced electrolysis, which is generally presented first. Every lesion is assessed before any treatment is agreed.
You may feel a stinging sensation during and shortly after treatment, and how it feels varies between people and areas. The application itself is brief. Your practitioner will explain what to expect before starting, so mention any worries at your consultation.
It depends on the type, size and depth of the lesion. Some lesions respond to one treatment while others need more, and a follow-up check may be arranged to review the area before any further treatment is decided. Your practitioner will give you a realistic view at consultation.
The treated area may be red, itchy or blistered for a time as it heals, and how long this lasts varies with the lesion and the area. We do not quote a fixed downtime. Your aftercare will include not picking the area or popping any blister, keeping it clean and dry, and protecting it from the sun.
Any mole, and any mark that is new, changing or unusual, must be checked by a doctor first, and the clinic will ask for a doctor's note before treating it. Not every lesion is suitable for freezing, and your skin and medical history also matter, including the possibility of changes in skin colour after treatment. Your practitioner will assess this and may recommend advanced electrolysis instead.
The price depends on the type, size and number of lesions being treated. Current prices are listed on our prices page, and your practitioner will confirm the cost at your consultation in Lancaster once your lesion has been assessed.
