Full Lip Colour
Quick answer
Full lip colour gives lips a bolder, stronger colour than lip blush, for a more made-up look that lasts day to day. It helps camouflage imperfections and adds shape and definition, with your colour chosen from a range of shades at consultation.
What is full lip colour?
If you like your lips to have a bolder, stronger appearance of colour, full lip colour is the choice for you. Where lip blush gives a gentle shade, full lip colour uses a stronger, fuller colour for a more made-up look.
Because the colour is built up more fully than with lip blush, full lip colour also gives your practitioner more scope to even out patchy natural pigment and add the appearance of shape and fullness through the treatment.
Who suits full lip colour?
Full lip colour suits anyone who wants noticeably bolder lip colour every day, and helps camouflage imperfections while giving shape and definition to the lips. A range of colours is available to create a look that is your own.
- Wanting a bolder, stronger colour every day
- Uneven lip tone or visible imperfections you would like to soften
- Wanting more defined lip shape
- Comfortable with a stronger colour than lip blush
What to expect from your appointment
Your consultation covers your chosen colour from a range of shades, along with any slight shaping needed to define your lip contour. Colour is built up to your chosen strength during treatment.
Because the colour is stronger than lip blush, it is applied in stages so you can see how the shade is developing, giving you the chance to discuss adjustments with your practitioner before the appointment is complete.
Healing and aftercare
Your lips will feel sensitive and may look swollen and more strongly coloured than expected for up to two weeks. Colour will fade during healing before blossoming into its true, fuller shade over the following four to six weeks.
Avoid spicy, salty or strongly coloured food and drink for a few days, drink through a straw where possible, and avoid kissing for around five days. A soothing balm and full aftercare advice are provided.
A touch-up appointment is generally included, to fine-tune your colour and shape once healing is complete.

Frequently asked questions
Full lip colour uses a stronger, fuller shade for a more made-up look, while lip blush gives a softer, more translucent tint. Which suits you depends on how bold you would like your everyday colour to be.
Yes, a stronger colour can help camouflage patches of uneven natural pigment and give the lips a more consistent overall tone, alongside added shape and definition.
Results are semi-permanent and typically fade gradually over roughly one to three years, depending on your skin type and lifestyle, with a touch-up appointment recommended to keep the colour looking fresh.
Visually the effect is similar to a well applied lipstick, but there is nothing to reapply through the day and no risk of it transferring or wearing off, which is the main appeal for most clients.
Colour choice is generally kept within natural, complementary lip tones rather than very bright or unusual shades, since the aim is a flattering, long-term result. Your options are discussed fully at consultation.
